About Me

Hola! I am Geida — pronounced, “Hey-the”.

I was born and raised in Mexico and moved to Minnesota at age 12. When I immigrated, I didn’t know English and had never seen snow, to say the move here was a culture shock is an understatement. As a native Spanish speaker, I would like to ensure that the voices of our Spanish-speaking community members are heard and included in the decisions we are making for our children.

From an early age, my mother instilled in me the importance of education. I attended the University of Minnesota and earned my Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development. Since graduating, I have worked in Higher Education for over 15 years at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. As a first-generation college student and immigrant to this country, I understand the importance of creating pathways to access and opportunities for all. I am passionate about helping individuals reach their fullest potential by engaging with the community, analyzing policies, and advocating for equitable solutions. I recently completed a master's degree in Public Affairs and Human Rights.

Since 2020 I have been a member of Poderistas, a non-profit organization that uses storytelling, convening, and organizing to shift la cultura, build lasting confidence, and inspire a lifestyle of civic participation among Latinas. This organization has provided me with the confidence to show up for my community and inspired me to be where decisions are made to represent.

Since 2018, my husband, Bill, and I have proudly called Roseville, MN our home. I’m a mother of two children with IEPs in the Roseville school district and have experienced firsthand the incredible support and sense of community that our educators provide. I am committed to ensuring that all families in Roseville have access to the same level of support and resources.

I am running for the Roseville Area School Board because I want to continue to build on the strengths of our community and create a bright future for all students.

Together, we can make a difference.
